Firefly commenced its first flight from Subang to the island of Batam, Indonesia today, marking its fourth Indonesian destination to date. Firefly is the only international airline to serve this destination with a direct flight from Kuala Lumpur.
It is estimated that 80% of Malaysians visitors and almost 100% of foreigners travel into Batam via Singapore. Firefly’s direct flight from Kuala Lumpur into Batam will now provide cheap affordable alternative for international visitors on long haul travels into Kuala Lumpur.
In addition Firefly also flies to Padang, West Sumatera of Indonesia, marking its second new route from Subang this month, and its fifth destination in Sumatera since the beginning of operations.
Firefly's Head of Marketing & Communications, Angelina Fernandez said, "Firefly is very positive of our new routes in Sumatera. Our direct point to point connection offers more than convenience and that is value for money. Padang is quite well known in Malaysia for their famous cuisine and likewise, Malaysian cuisine is also very well sought after by our neighbors in Padang. In our effort to promote Padang, our media friends from Malaysia were welcomed by Raun Tours and were brought along for a 3D2N tour, discovering the many offerings of Padang and Bukit Tinggi,"
Firefly is currently running an introductory promotional fare for Batam and Padang flights from RM 88 per way. The fares are already available for booking for travel period from now till 24 October 2009. For booking details, please visit www.fireflyz.com.my
