Indonesia Welcomes 1.14 Million Foreign Tourists in April

Source: Antara
Indonesia welcomed 1.14 million foreign tourists in April, the Central Statistics Agency, or BPS, reported.

The data represent a 7.1 percent increase from March, and a 26.8 percent increase from the same period last year.

"The number is still dominated by tourists from China at 15.8 percent," BPS head Suhariyanto said in Jakarta on Friday (02/06).
In second place was Singapore with 127,100 tourists, or 12.7 percent of the total, followed by Malaysia with 118,000 (11.8 percent), Australia with 95,700 (9.6 percent) and India with 39,000 (3.9 percent).

Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport had the highest number of foreign tourist arrivals in April with a total of 474,600. Meanwhile, Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and Batam's Hang Nadim International Airport ranked second and third with 211,000 and 134,000, respectively.
Sam Ratulangi International Airport in Manado, North Sulawesi, saw a 312 percent increase in foreign tourist arrivals compared to the same period last year. This can be ascribed to the commencement of direct flights between Manado and destinations in China.

There was also a 127 percent increase in foreign arrivals at Lombok International Airport in West Nusa Tenggara due to increased flights from Malaysia and Brunei.

Indonesia reportedly received 4.2 million foreign tourists in the first three months of this year, representing a 19.3 percent year-on-year increase.

The Ministry of Tourism has set a target of at least 15 million foreign tourist arrivals this year. (JakartaGlobe)
