THE MINISTRY OF TOURISM AND CREATIVE ECONOMY
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia expressed concern in relation to the outbreak of novel coronavirus which has been declared as a global health crisis by the World Health Organisation (WHO), and hope that the condition would soon recover.
This outbreak would certainly have an impact on the global economy, including on the tourism sector, as China is one of the major source for global tourism.
Indonesia is also not exempted from the impact of the outbreak. As such, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy along with stakeholders from the tourism sector will develop several measures and strategy in order for the tourism and services industry to continue developing as a driving force for the economy and source of state income.
Apart from developing promotional and marketing strategy to attract international visitors from several potential markets, the Ministry will also attempt to make the tourism and services industry as well as creative economy as the main factor to support the current tourism and creative economy sector.
In addition to the efforts to safeguard the tourism and creative economy sector, we will also prioritise on the health and safety aspect in order to protect the people of Indonesia.
We appreciated the efforts conducted by the Government of the People’s Republic of China in preventing and recovering the impact from the outbreak of the corona virus.
The tourism industry along with the people of Indonesia expressed hope that this crisis could soon be resolved.
